Dr. Nick Bhatt grew up in western New York. His great appreciation for literature and the arts led him to study English at Union College in Schenectady where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude and receiving the Reuben Sorkin Award for outstanding academic standing and community service. He was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most prestigious academic honor society. Beyond the arts, Dr. Bhatt also had an interest in the life sciences, leading him to complete his medical training at the State University of New York, Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (University at Buffalo).

Dr. Bhatt then was selected to complete a very competitive 5-year residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, where he also trained under Dr. Achih H. Chen, at the time, the Director of Facial Plastic Surgery. During his residency training, Dr. Bhatt was awarded the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Training Examination Award, given to the resident physician with the highest inservice examination score. After residency, he completed his subspecialty fellowship training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine followed by completion of a second subspecialty fellowship in microvascular surgery (reconstructive surgery involving microscopically re-connecting blood vessels and nerves) at the University of Maryland-affiliated Mercy Medical Center.

Dr. Bhatt was formerly the Chief of Microvascular Surgery in the Division of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery at the University of North Carolina. He has authored numerous original research articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has been a frequent invited speaker to present his research at national meetings across the country. He is passionate about cosmetically pleasing and functional reconstructive surgery and natural and refreshed appearing aesthetic surgery.
